I have been
informed through a couple varsity parents of a few concerns that some of you may have in regards to the freshmen and junior
varsity teams. This means of my acquiring information is not ideal or typical of an effective entity. As I appreciate these
parents and their concern for the overall football program, I am disappointed that there are members of our Spartan family
that do not feel comfortable approaching me with any questions, comments or concerns. The only way that
anything can be changed or even mediated is through open communication. Talking amongst ourselves and not to those able to
change things has never gotten anything accomplished except dissension.
In regards to the junior varsity and freshman teams, yes they are a vital part of the Spartan program. Yes they are
viewed with the same care and love as the varsity teams. There are decisions made in regards to these teams that are made
for the good of the overall program and not just specific teams. There are financial, time, and man power logistics taken
into consideration when these decisions are made. There are limitations to certain aspects of these teams that are not placed
o the varsity team due to these limitations. If anyone has the desire to go more in depth into these logistical
situations as well as offer logical solutions that they are will to assist with please do not hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to working with and hearing from you in order to not only make your child’s experience as a Spartan
as enjoyable as possible but to also make the Spartan family as strong as possible. Love White Station, Coach
Rutherford
9/8/09 Parents please know that I as well as my staff are fully aware of the illnesses that are spreading
throughout the community. We are taking every precaution possible such\h as bleaching and sanitizing the locker room as well
as the water bottles and coolers. We need your assistance as well. Please encourage your players to wash
and clean their uniforms as much as possible and take advantage of the working shower facilities in each locker room.
If there are any other practical means of prevention that you are aware of and are willing to assist with please do
not hesitate to contact me. Love White Station Coach Rutherford _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Spartan Parents,
As the varsity season approaches, I feel it necessary to share some important information with you in regards to the
travel situation for varsity games. It would be logistically and financially irresponsible to dress out
and take all 92 players to a varsity game. To alleviate this situation a varsity dress list will be posted
each day before the game. This list will be derived and changed weekly based upon the following factors: - 1st and 2nd team offense/defense
- 1st
team special teams
- Scout team members who give a great effort at practice.
Those who do not make the travel squad for this week are still a part of the
team and are encouraged to come to the games and cheer their teammates on. They should keep in mind that there will be other
games to dress out for and more importantly other practices to earn a spot on the travel squad. Love White Station, Coach Rutherford _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 9/8/09 Football

Weiss and McCormack Provide Services
Dr.
Kenneth Weiss of OrthoMemphis has agreed to volunteer his services on Friday nights to serve as our game-night team physician.
It is very comforting to know that we have proffesional help in the unfortunate event that one of our players
suffer serious injury. Dr. Weiss is a welcome addition to the Spartan family. Dr. Wiess's office is located
at 6286 Briarcrest Avenue 38120. Also volunteering his services once again
this season is Tim McCormack. Tim is an athletic trainer with many years of experience in athletic training. Mr.
McCormack is there for us to examine minor injuries and provide pre-game taping along with other various duties.
Mr. McCormack's son, Timothy graduated last spring and was the placekicker for the 2006 state semi-final team. Thanks
to both Dr. Weiss and Mr. McCormack for their willingness to help our program.
